In reply to Sally. It shouldn't be spicy, but you can make sure the variety you use is mild. Banana peppers and pepperoncini peppers are used interchangeably, but sometimes jars that are pepperonicin peppers have added heat. The two peppers have the same scoville heat rating too. Make sure it's a mild one and see if you lean towards the mildness of the banana pepper over the pepperoncini next time :)

It had a good flavor and my hubby loved it. But, it was too spicy for me. My mother was in fire! Can you make it without the pepperocini?and if so what would I use instead?
