How to Make this Recipe
- First, clean and prep your veggies. Cut the broccoli into individual florets, mushrooms into ¼-inch slices and garlic thinly sliced.
- A large skillet with a lid is important to use in this recipe. It gives the sear and steam that yields the perfect crisp-tender veggie. The timing of this cook is important as well.
- Heat 3 tablespoon of the oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat. Add the broccoli and mushrooms, toss to coat, and cook 3 minutes or until the broccoli is vibrant green.
- Add garlic, red pepper flakes, salt. pepper and remaining oil. Cook 1 minute.
- Add ½ cup water and bring to a simmer. Cover with a lid and cook 4 minutes.
- Uncover and cook until all the liquid has evaporated, about 1-2 minutes. Immediately transfer the veggies to a serving bowl.
Tips and Substitutions
- The crushed red pepper flakes can be omitted if you’d rather not add heat.
