- Buttermilk Substitute: If you don’t have buttermilk on hand, you can make your own by adding 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to ¾ cup of regular milk. Let it sit for 5 minutes before using.

- Crispy Edges: If you love a crispy edge on your biscuits, try baking them in a preheated cast-iron skillet.
- If you want to make the biscuit mix from scratch, follow these instructions:
- For the dough, combine 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 ½ teaspoons sugar, 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon salt. Optional: add ¼ teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning.
- For the seasoning packet that is included in the box that is to be mixed with the melted butter, you can instead use ½ teaspoon garlic powder and ¼ teaspoon each onion powder and dried parsley.

Room Temperature: These biscuits can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
Refrigerator: If you want them to last longer, store them in the fridge for up to 5 days. Just warm them up in the oven before serving.

I want to try these from scratch. Could you tell me the steps for making these biscuits from scratch? Don’t the biscuits need some shortening or butter in the mix? Or is the buttermilk enough for that? And what herb/spices would you brush on top? I know the mix is easy but it has all kinds of nasty for you ingredients in it. Can you help me out please. Thanks!
Laura Ashley
Hi Pam! I've noted under Tips and Substitutions ways that you can make adjustments for it. I hope you love it!
Sarah

If you use the substitution you posted for the biscuit mix…do you also have a substitution you can share for the garlic seasoning packet?
Laura Ashley
Thank you for asking that question! I have it edited with a mixture that works great as an alternative!
